(Source: USAP.gov)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Regarding our post about\u00a0<a title=\"Weak signal DX challenge: Christmas carols in Antarctica\" href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/weak-signal-dx-challenge-christmas-carols-in-antarctica\/\">Christmas carols in Antarctica<\/a>,\u00a0Nathaniel Frissel (KC4\/W2NAF) at the McMurdo Station in Antarctica writes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hi, everyone! Merry Christmas!<\/p>\n<p>We had a wonderful time singing over the radio from Antarctica this\u00a0year on 7995 kHz. We heard carols not only from McMurdo Station, but\u00a0many of the other bases and remote field camps as well. This includes\u00a0South Pole Station (American), Mario Zuchelli Station (Italian), Siple\u00a0Dome Station (Italian), Grounding Station (American), Diamond Hills\u00a0Field Camp (We think!) (American), and Science Event I-196 (American).<\/p>\n<p>I have already received SWL reports from a number of listeners, and am\u00a0very happy to report that a number of operators reported that they\u00a0heard Hark the Herald Angels<\/p>\n<p>Sing come through the static for about 30 seconds. This transmission\u00a0originated from South Pole Station. So far, these reports have come\u00a0from the Netherlands, Germany, and Australia. A few US stations\u00a0believe they heard the transmission as well.
