Bob is the mastermind\u00a0behind <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heilsound.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heil Sound<\/a> as well as the host of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/twit.tv\/show\/ham-nation\" target=\"_blank\">HamNation<\/a><\/em>, a show devoted to all aspects of amateur radio\u2013\u2013yet this\u00a0job description\u00a0only scratches the surface of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bob_Heil\" target=\"_blank\">Bob&#8217;s fascinating career<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12970\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Thomas-Witherspoon-Bob-Heil.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12970\" class=\"wp-image-12970 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Thomas-Witherspoon-Bob-Heil-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"Bob Heil (left) me (right)\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Thomas-Witherspoon-Bob-Heil-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Thomas-Witherspoon-Bob-Heil.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12970\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bob Heil (K9EID, left) and yours truly (right)\u00a0at the 2014 W4DXX conference in Sevierville, TN<\/p><\/div>\n<p>One thing is for sure, however: there are few people in the radio industry who truly understand audio as profoundly\u00a0as\u00a0Bob Heil, so when he announced that he would host a forum at the W4DXCC to assist\u00a0amateur radio operators in improving their received (and transmitted) audio, we were all ears,\u00a0and signed right up.<\/p>\n<p>Early in the forum, Bob described\u00a0a set of self-powered and relatively affordable JBL monitor speakers that he highly recommended for amateur radio use. Everyone in the room noted the model number of the speakers, myself included. \u00a0So imagine my dismay\u00a0after the convention when I simply couldn&#8217;t find my notes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, my buddy Gary Wise (W8EEY) recently jogged my memory.
