The SDR20\u00a0is\u00a0a fully portable, robust, multi-touch portable SDR transceiver.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13473\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5.jpg\" alt=\"Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5\" width=\"1025\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5.jpg 1025w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-5-1024x678.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1025px) 100vw, 1025px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The screen on the SDR20 is as responsive as an iPad and fully developed around\u00a0SDR functionality. While\u00a0Jarkko didn&#8217;t have\u00a0an HF signal of any sort inside the hotel convention\u00a0room, I was able to play with the interface a bit, which I found rather intuitive.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13476\" style=\"width: 660px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SIRU_SDR20_UI3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13476\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13476\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SIRU_SDR20_UI3.jpg\" alt=\"(Source: Siru)\" width=\"650\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SIRU_SDR20_UI3.jpg 650w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/SIRU_SDR20_UI3-300x215.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13476\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">(Source: Siru)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The SDR20&#8217;s product brochure lists some of its features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2-channel transceiver operation<\/li>\n<li>Two methodologies for implementation: IQ Mod \/ Demod and Direct Down\u00a0and Direct Up (DDC, DUC) conversion<\/li>\n<li>Up to 200MHz bandwidth per channel<\/li>\n<li>100mW transmit power. Higly efficient 1kW exciter available separately.<\/li>\n<li>Frequency range covers DC to 2.5 GHz<\/li>\n<li>State of the art Altera Cyclone SOC-FPGA (Including dual-ARM9 Cortex)<\/li>\n<li>Graphics Prosessor accelerated Multi-Touch screen with a slick user interface<\/li>\n<li>GNURadio, C++ API\/Python, VHDL\/Verilog\/High Level Synthesis sandbox<\/li>\n<li>High-speed ethernet interface for computer connection<\/li>\n<li>Internal clock 20 PPS<\/li>\n<li>Coherent operation with external clock source (GPS, Rubidium etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Rugged and stylish enclosure \/ Rack mount<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course, the SDR20 is truly designed for industrial and government\/military applications, thus it carries a price tag reflective of those markets:\u00a0\u20ac3,395.00 (about $3,800 USD).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13469 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Siru-Innovations-SDR20-1-e1433503502943.jpg\" alt=\"Siru-Innovations-SDR20-1\" width=\"858\" height=\"563\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Still, seeing the SDR20 gives me hope that multi-touch, portable SDRs will become more commonplace as capacitive\u00a0screens, processors, DSP chips and solid state storage continue to decline in price. \u00a0Indeed, I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if Siru is able to lower the price on future iterations of their portable SDR line.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to take a look at some of the SDR20&#8217;s specifications, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.siru.fi\/sdr20.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">this PDF product sheet<\/a>\u00a0and the video embedded below.\u00a0\u00a0Of course, you&#8217;ll find even more information and updates\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.siru.fi\/\" target=\"_blank\">on Siru&#8217;s website<\/a>.
