The occupants felt threatened that it might be a pirate, so they called for help on the HAM<\/em><br \/>\n<em>radio.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Volunteer radio operators around the country worked together to communicate and relay\u00a0<\/em><em>messages with the Coast Guard in California.
