I was so disappointed after testing the SRF-59.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16980\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59-1024x586.jpg\" alt=\"modern-sony-srf-59\" width=\"584\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59-1024x586.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59-768x440.jpg 768w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59-500x286.jpg 500w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/modern-sony-srf-59.jpg 1181w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>It is absolutely a different receiver compared with the SRF-39FP. It doesn&#8217;t stay close for performance. I opened it (see photo above) and (surprise!)\u00a0it was missing a few capacitors&#8230;What a shame&#8230;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thanks for sharing this, Val.<\/p>\n<p>My advice? Don&#8217;t throw the SRF-59 away yet, Val! While it isn&#8217;t quite on par with the SRF-39FP, it is still quite an amazing MW DX ultralight.<\/p>\n<p>I would suggest that you check out <a href=\"https:\/\/aa7ee.wordpress.com\/2013\/11\/11\/am-broadcast-band-dxing-with-a-3-50-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Richard&#8217;s blog where he details how to tweak the SRF-59 for top performace<\/a>.
