The site was closed by the end of 2012 and towers demolished shortly thereafter.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Recently, my friend and fellow archivist,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/london-shortwave.blogspot.co.uk\/2016\/04\/endangered-shortwave-stations.html\" target=\"_blank\">London Shortwave<\/a>, and I engaged in a\u00a0discussion about creating a curated list of &#8220;endangered&#8221; shortwave radio stations.<\/p>\n<p>The idea being we could use such a list to focus our efforts and those of the <a href=\"http:\/\/shortwavearchive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">archiving community<\/a> on recording\u00a0broadcasters that were most likely to disappear in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>London Shortwave published an excellent post about this <a href=\"http:\/\/london-shortwave.blogspot.com\/2016\/04\/endangered-shortwave-stations.html\" target=\"_blank\">on his blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/london-shortwave.blogspot.com\/2016\/04\/endangered-shortwave-stations.html\" target=\"_blank\">Please click here to read his post.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We quickly put <a href=\"http:\/\/shortwavearchive.com\/endangered\/\" target=\"_blank\">this page on the Shortwave Radio Audio Archive<\/a>\u00a0as a starting point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>We need your help to curate this list! <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please comment either on <a href=\"http:\/\/london-shortwave.blogspot.com\/2016\/04\/endangered-shortwave-stations.html\" target=\"_blank\">London Shortwave&#8217;s blog<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2016\/04\/curating-a-list-of-endangered-shortwave-stations\/#respond\">on this post<\/a>, and suggest any additional broadcasters we may have missed. Please include a link to news item(s) which may indicate the broadcaster faces closure.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this list and the categories are subjective&#8211;we&#8217;re simply using our best judgement in this process.
