{"id":19720,"date":"2016-06-28T08:49:34","date_gmt":"2016-06-28T12:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/?p=19720"},"modified":"2016-06-28T08:49:34","modified_gmt":"2016-06-28T12:49:34","slug":"13-colonies-special-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/13-colonies-special-event\/","title":{"rendered":"13 Colonies Special Event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/feedproxy.google.com\/~r\/kb6nu\/EiYP\/~3\/daOzPw00oD8\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-528 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/ak3q.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/13-colonies.jpg\" alt=\"13-colonies\" width=\"455\" height=\"351\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>13 Colonies operating event runs from 1300Z July 1 \u2013 0400Z July 7<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once again, the <strong>13 Colonies\u00a0Special Event<\/strong> will take place between 1300z, July 1st and 0400z July 7th.\u00a0The certificate is printed on heavy card stock. Stations working one state\u00a0or, as many as all 15, will be eligible for the certificate. A \u201cClean Sweep\u201d\u00a0indicator will be affixed, for those lucky enough to \u201cQ\u201d all 15.<\/p>\n<p>A special\u00a0endorsement will be attached for stations contacting their sister operation, WM3PEN, in Philadelphia, PA, where independence was declared. New\u00a0since 2015, the 13 Colonies have added a second sister event station GB13COL\u00a0will operate from Durham, England. The 13 Colonies certificate will have a\u00a0Liberty Bell added for a contact with WM3PEN. They will also offer a special\u00a0QSL card printed just for this event.<\/p>\n<p>There should be at least two stations\u00a0from each on the 13 colonies on the air, as well as Super contest stations,\u00a0multi-operator Club stations and OM and XYL teams. The thirteen orginal U.S. colonies are CT-DE- GA-MA-MD-NC-NH-NJ-NY-PA-RI-SC-VA. Special events\u00a0stations mentioned are: K2A (NY), K2B (VA), K2C (RI), K2D (CT), K2E (DE),\u00a0K2F (MD), K2G (GA), K2H (MA), K2I (NJ), K2J (NC), K2K (NH), K2L (SC),\u00a0and K2M (PA).<\/p>\n<p>All HF bands will be in play, including the WARC bands,\u00a0with the exception of 60 meters. 2 meters and 6 meter simplex are encouraged. All modes of operation should be represented \u2013 SSB, CW, RTTY,\u00a0Digital, and the Satellites. The mode of operation is up to the individual\u00a0colony state station.
