Many of you might have noticed I’ve been absent on Facebook<\/a>\/Twitter ,<\/a>\u00a0slower to correspond, and\u00a0not posting quite as often\u00a0this summer.<\/p>\n

Yes, you guessed it: I’ve been on the road again.<\/p>\n

Starting in mid-May, we made our\u00a0annual pilgrimage to Dayton, Ohio,\u00a0where we hosted an inside exhibit at the Hamvention<\/a>, made some NPOTA activations<\/a>, and visited the phenomenal National Museum of the USAF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I then\u00a0returned to the shack\u00a0for one week, frantically finished a few projects, then hit the road again. \u00a0Headed even farther north this\u00a0time….Destination: Canada.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>

The Smithsonian’s Udvar-Hazy Center houses a number of large aircraft including the Concorde, the SR-71 and even the space shuttle Discovery.<\/p><\/div>\n

Stopped\u00a0in the Washington, DC area for a few nights and spent\u00a0the better part of one day at the Udvar-Hazy Center<\/a>. The aviation geek in me was in the skies\u2013\u2013wow, what an amazing place!<\/em><\/p>\n

By June 5th, i was just outside\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec City in the town of Beaupr\u00e9.<\/p>\n

While in Qu\u00e9bec, I participated in a Field Day event with the incroyable<\/em> members of the\u00a0Club Radio Amateur de Qu\u00e9bec.<\/a>\u00a0I practiced my French, the club members treated me like one of their own\u2013\u2013hosting an excellent\u00a0lunch and dinner\u2013\u2013and I even got a few hours on the air as VE2CQ.<\/p>\n

Oh, and you might recall a post from June<\/a>\u00a0in which I shared photos from an aerial display in Qu\u00e9bec City featuring the Snowbirds. It was our first time seeing them, and\u00a0it was, as you might expect, just spectacular.<\/p>\n

We spent the rest of June and part of July\u00a0in Qu\u00e9bec, then made our way to Prince Edward Island via New Brunswick and Nova Scotia where\u00a0a rustic off-grid cabin awaited us.<\/p>\n

While the condo in Quebec had all of the radio interference one would expect, the off-grid cabin was blissfully quiet,\u00a0free of radio interference. As you might imagine, I played a lot of radio…<\/p>\n

I also sampled a lot of Island craft brews!<\/p>\n

We spent several relaxed\u00a0weeks in Prince Edward Island, then made our way back to the States.<\/p>\n

I’ve only been home since last Wednesday, and found\u00a0quite a pile-up in the work zone, so I’m busily catching up. \u00a0However, I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I should be\u00a0current\u00a0with correspondence by next week. \u00a0Thanks for your patience, email friends!<\/p>\n

And if you’re interested, just for fun, I plan to write a more detailed trip report later this summer or\u00a0fall. I do have a few pics from side trips\u00a0I’ll likely share in the meantime.<\/p>\n

Yet again, we had a terrific\u00a0adventure in Canada! \u00a0But it’s sure good to be back home…and back at the dial.<\/p>\n
