They encompassed\u00a0CBC&#8217;s Radio-Canada International (RCI)\u00a0shortwave broadcasting site, built during the Second World War to send broadcasts worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Like others in the area, artist and filmmaker Amanda Dawn Christie was fascinated by the site \u2014\u00a0which not only transmitted Canadian content around the world in various languages, but also relayed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rferl.org\/\">Radio Free Europe<\/a> broadcasts during the Cold War. This week, she&#8217;s premiering<em>Spectres of Shortwave<\/em>, her experimental documentary film on the site, at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlanticfilm.com\/\">Atlantic Film Festival<\/a> in Halifax.
