This sunspot is the size of Jupiter! It&#8217;s all a little too coincidental on 11-11-11.<\/p>\n<p>It can only mean one thing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Turn on your radio and tune in some pirates!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those of you new to pirate radio, most&#8211;but not all&#8211;activity can be found between 6,925 &#8211; 7,000 kHz (i.e. just below the 40 meter ham radio band). Pirates are not professional broadcasters, thus work \u00a0a day job during the week. That&#8217;s why you&#8217;re most likely to hear pirates Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.<\/p>\n<p>Pirate signals are often faint&#8211;though perhaps old <a title=\"Nat Geo\" href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2011\/11\/111110-sunspots-ar1339-earth-jupiter-solar-flare-auroras-space-science\/?fb_ref=.Tr1loqKgDyo.like&amp;fb_source=profile_oneline\" target=\"_blank\">Sol<\/a> may help a bit, depending on other conditions. For what it&#8217;s worth, I just heard a pirate on my tiny Degen DE321 portable (that review out tomorrow).
