Many thanks to Steven K. Roberts for recovering the text for me as it never stuck to my hard drive. Enjoy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h1>A DXer\u2019s Christmas<\/h1>\n<p>(With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore)<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Twas the night before Christmas,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and all through the house<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The &#8220;Harmonics&#8221; were sleeping,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and so was the spouse;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The antennas were hung<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> from the chimney with care<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> in hopes that some signals<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> would come through the air;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The receivers were nestled<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> all neat in a row, With filters and tuners<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> all ready to go;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> With a strong cup of coffee,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> sitting at my right hand,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I had just settled in to some radio band,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> When out of my headphones<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> there arose such a clatter,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I sprang from my desk<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> to see what was the matter.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Away to the window<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I flew like a flash,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> To determine the cause of this odd static crash.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The Moon on the breast<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> of the new -fallen snow,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Gave my antenna wires an unusual glow;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> When what to my wondering<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> eyes should appear,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> But a weird little sleigh<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and eight tiny reindeer.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> With a strange little driver,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> who looked like a &#8220;Hippie,&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I though for a moment<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> my brain had gone dippy.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> More rapid than eagles<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> his coursers they came,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And he wheezed, and he cursed, as he called them by name: &#8220;Now Ten-Tec! Now Icom!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Now Yaesu and Philips!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> On Grundig! On Sony!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> On Kenwood and Collins!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Watch out for the porch!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Watch out for the wall!<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Stay out of the way,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and don&#8217;t let me fall!&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> As dry leaves that before<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> the wild hurricane ride,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> When they met with an obstacle,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> they kicked it aside.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> So up to the house -top<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> the coursers they flew,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And got tangled in wire;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> the old Hippie did too.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And then, in a twinkling<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> I heard through the ceiling, a great deal of cursing,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and swearing, and squealing.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> As I shook my head,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and hollered out &#8220;Stop!&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Down the chimney the bearded one<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> fell with a plop.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> He was dressed all in denim,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> from his headphones to tail,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> His clothes smelled like sweatsocks,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and his breath like cheap ale;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> The stump of a stogie<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> he held tight in his teeth.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And the rancid smoke circled<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> his head like a wreath;<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> He had a fat face<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and a great big beer -belly,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> That shook when he burped,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> like a bowlful of jelly.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> He spoke not a word<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> but went straight to his work,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Opened up my receiver,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> and tuned with a jerk.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> Then sticking a finger<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> inside of his nose,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> And giving a burp,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong> up the chimney he rose.
