I would appreciate your thoughts on a random wire to center tip antenna and details of the widget you built when you have time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Sony-AN-LP1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5390 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Sony-AN-LP1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"154\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Thank you for your question, Steven. \u00a0I hope a reader can help point to the post you&#8217;ve mentioned. \u00a0I believe I recall reading this in\u00a0a guest post&#8211;I know I&#8217;ve never used a device to kill the 6V phantom load in the antenna out jack.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I suppose I&#8217;ve (incorrectly?) assumed the Sony would only push voltage out if connected to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2oS8aeJ\" target=\"_blank\">Sony AN-LP1<\/a> (see right).<\/p>\n<p>I know I&#8217;ve used a number of antennas with the ICF-SW7600GR: long wires, the <a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2016\/11\/a-preliminary-review-of-the-pk-loop-c-loop-hdsw6-18\/\">PK Loop<\/a>, The<a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/portable-antennas-par-electronics-ef-swl\/\"> EF-SWL<\/a>, the NASA PA 30, and even a rather large multi-band dipole <a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/radio-netherlands-says-farewell-in-style\/\">when I recorded the final broadcast of RNW<\/a>. I&#8217;ve never experienced a problem, nor damaged the antenna\/receiver as of yet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Can anyone shed some light on this?
