{"id":27609,"date":"2017-08-17T10:22:33","date_gmt":"2017-08-17T14:22:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/?p=27609"},"modified":"2017-08-17T10:22:33","modified_gmt":"2017-08-17T14:22:33","slug":"practical-wireless-and-radiouser-magazines-have-new-owner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/practical-wireless-and-radiouser-magazines-have-new-owner\/","title":{"rendered":"Practical Wireless\u00a0and\u00a0RadioUser magazines have new owner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RadioUserMag-e1502979701708.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27610\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RadioUserMag-e1502979701708.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"594\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southgatearc.org\/news\/2017\/august\/new-owner-for-pw.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Southgate ARC<\/a>)<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"s5\"><strong><span class=\"s3\">New owner for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">Practical Wireless\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s4\">RadioUser m<\/span><span class=\"s3\">agazines<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"s9\">Roger Hall &amp; Steve Hunt have made the following announcement on the PW Publishing website:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">We are very pleased to announce that\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\"><strong>Practical Wireless<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\"><strong>RadioUser<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"s6\">magazines have been bought\u00a0by\u00a0Warners Group Publications, a Lincolnshire-based\u00a0multi-million-pound\u00a0turnover publishing company that specialises in producing magazines, websites and events for niche hobbies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">They<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0believe that both\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Practical Wireless<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Radio<\/span><span class=\"s7\">User<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0are an ideal fit with\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">their\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">business and have assured us they plan to use their publishing expertise and size to help develop both<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0titles, giving them an assured long-term future<\/span><span class=\"s6\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">Both Steve and I are aware that\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">we were only the most recent custodians of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">two historic titles,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Practical Wireless<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0dating from 1932 and the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">RadioUser<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0with its roots in\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Short Wave Magazine<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0from 1937.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s why, when we decided to retire after being in publishing for almost 40 years, first with IPC and then with PW Publishing,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">we felt it was important to find<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0a reputable company with the expertise and resources to make sure\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">they will continue to be published for many years to come<\/span><span class=\"s6\">. In Warners, we believe we have found just such a company and both\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">PW\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s7\">RU<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0will continue to be the country\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s6\">best-selling<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0radio magazines<\/span><span class=\"s6\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">Over the next few weeks we will be handing over all aspect of our business to Warners<\/span><span class=\"s6\">\u00a0and they will be publishing both titles f<\/span><span class=\"s6\">rom the October issues onwards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">The new Publisher will be Rob McDonnell (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:robm@warnersgroup.co.uk\"><span class=\"s8\">robm@warnersgroup.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s6\">) and the new Group Advertising Manager will be Claire Ingram (<\/span><a href=\"mailto:clairem@warnersgroup.co.uk\"><span class=\"s8\">clairem@warnersgroup.co.uk<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s6\">)<\/span><span class=\"s6\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s2\"><span class=\"s6\">Our existing Editors, Don Field and Georg Wiessala, will remain with their respective magazines.
