Digital TV Europe excitedly reported it as the BBC\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltveurope.com\/2018\/05\/11\/bbc-predicts-all-ip-future-says-it-will-evolve-into-an-internet-broadcaster\/?utm_source=james.crid.land&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;utm_campaign=james.crid.land:2018-06-04\">predicting an all-IP future<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I tweeted this last week, and it was retweeted heavily, with a lot of radio people posting \u201cI told you so!\u201d and \u201cI\u2019ve been saying this for ages!\u201d; and a few online radio companies jumped to self-promote themselves as part of the all-IP future.<\/p>\n<p>Calm down, everyone.<\/p>\n<p>First, as a former senior manager at the BBC, I\u2019d start with the seemingly trite statement that whenever you hear \u201cwe\u201d coming from a BBC manager in a speech, what they really mean is, firstly, \u201cmy department\u201d, and secondly, in most cases, they also mean \u201ctelevision\u201d.
