A pristine\u00a0Zenith Model R-7000-2 Trans-Oceanic! Talk about a good omen!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-e1540388467718.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-34617\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Turns out there are no less than two Trans-Oceanic collectors in this group of about two dozen ham radio operators. The owner of this Model R-7000-2 told me that he has every Trans-Oceanic including the coveted Clipper and Bomber models.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-angle-e1540388449299.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-34616\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-angle-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure I had ever seen the Model R-7000-2 in person. It&#8217;s a striking radio and the last in the line of the Trans-Oceanic sets&#8211;this model was produced in 1981.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-top-e1540388410912.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-34614\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Zenith-Transoceanic-R-7000-2-top-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, I had to snap a few photos of this beauty.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of beauties, this Zenith enthusiast also brought\u00a0his copy of the John H. Bryant and Harold N. Cones seminal volume:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2PNNd2m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Zenith Trans-Oceanic, the Royalty of Radios<\/a>. <em>(A book I highly recommend.<\/em>) On one of the pages I rediscovered an image of my favorite 1930s\/40s actress, Myrna Loy:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Myrna-Loy-Zenith-Transoceanic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-34618\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Myrna-Loy-Zenith-Transoceanic.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"614\" height=\"831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Myrna-Loy-Zenith-Transoceanic.jpg 614w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Myrna-Loy-Zenith-Transoceanic-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 614px) 100vw, 614px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I first fell in love with Myrna Loy watching the classic film series: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Thin_Man_(film)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Thin Man<\/a>.
