(Photo: Thomas Witherspoon)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Many thanks to the number of <em>SWLing Post<\/em> readers who have forwarded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arrl.org\/news\/wwv-100th-anniversary-special-event-operation-in-the-planning-stages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article from the ARRL News<\/a>\u00a0that notes <a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2019\/01\/mark-your-calendars-wwv-special-event-amateur-station-sep-28-oct-2-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the WWV Special Event Station, planned for later this year<\/a>, is a go. This is great news indeed.<\/p>\n<p>With regards to the <a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/interview-with-scott-simon-of-npr-via-radio-canada-cbc-studios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FY2019 budget uncertainty<\/a> surrounding NIST radio stations WWV, WWVH and WWVB, the ARRL notes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The NIST budget for WWV, WWVH, and WWVB will remain level for FY 2019.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As I mentioned in a recent post, this is the feedback I&#8217;ve received as well&#8211;that the portion of the budget that includes NIST radios station will remain the same as it was last year. Last year, the NIST internally-allocated funds for the stations and it appears it will this will happen again!
