It came from the estate of my dear friend Michael Pool (The Professor) <a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2019\/02\/remembering-the-professor-michael-pool-radio-zealot-and-host-of-wfmus-audio-kitchen\/\">who passed away earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This particular radio has quite an amazing history&#8211;remind me to share the story someday&#8211;but I&#8217;ll always cherish the 7-2990A because it was one of Michael&#8217;s favorites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/GE-7-2990A-Table-e1561296865188.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38297\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/GE-7-2990A-Table-e1561296865188.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"820\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I knew the GE was one of Michael&#8217;s favorite mediumwave receivers, but I wasn&#8217;t sure how well it would perform on the shortwaves.
