Many thanks to <em>SWLing Post<\/em> contributors Jason Walker and Peter Marks for sharing the following story and audio <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rnz.co.nz\/international\/pacific-news\/408067\/celebrating-30-years-of-broadcasting-in-the-pacific\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">from Radio New Zealand<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>On 24 January 1990, Radio New Zealand International beamed into the Pacific, on a new 100 kilowatt transmitter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>New Zealand has had a short-wave service to the Pacific since 1948.
