Chuck wanted to send me one of the units he&#8217;d recently finished, knowing that it might help me when doing AM reception evaluations. Some of the alignment, rebuilding, and re-capping is surprisingly tricky and varies with each of the three models. Keep in mind, this is very much a casual\/informal comparison:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2fI3d9iDjO0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/2fI3d9iDjO0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to view on YouTube.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SR-II not only has the best audio fidelity in this bunch, but it&#8217;s also extremely stable and has no noise floor to speak of. No doubt, this is the result of those Nichicon Audio Grade components and a skilled technician.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Side note:<\/strong><\/em> Chuck is well-known in the radio world because he used to restore the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dxing.com\/rx\/r390a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collins R390A<\/a> which must be one of the most mechanically-complicated receivers ever made.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t even properly tested the SR-II on FM yet because I couldn&#8217;t pull myself away from the mediumwave dial that afternoon!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/AM-Radio-Lineup-RF-2200-7-2990A-CCRadio3-Superadio-II-e1613917627372.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-47895\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/AM-Radio-Lineup-RF-2200-7-2990A-CCRadio3-Superadio-II-e1613917627372.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" \/><\/a>I asked Chuck if he would consider refurbishing GE Superadios for other people and I think he would.\u00a0 If interested, contact me and I&#8217;ll put you in touch.
