When it was introduced to market, I wanted one because I thought not only would it be a great QRP transceiver, but TEN-TEC rigs tended to have brilliant audio and were capable broadcast band receivers.<\/p>\n<p>The seller described it as being in \u201cpristine condition and operating to factory specs on all bands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The seller seemed to be a nice fellow and sent me a number of photos with his QSL card in the image and his email address matched what was on file with QRZ.com. The seller checked out on many levels confirming this wasn\u2019t a scam (<em>always<\/em>\u00a0assume a classifieds listing could be a scam!).<\/p>\n<p>I purchased it last week and it was delivered today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50751\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-2-624x468.jpeg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first thing I did after connecting it to a power supply was tune to the 31 meter band, switch the mode to AM, and widen the variable filter to 6 kHz (the Argo&#8217;s max AM bandwidth).<\/p>\n<p>So far, I&#8217;m impressed!<\/p>\n<p>For a ham radio transceiver, I can tell that the Argo V is going to be a competent rig for casual shortwave radio listening.<\/p>\n<p>I also tuned to the mediumwave band (not having even checked in advance its lower RX limit) and am happy to report that it covers the whole AM BC band as well.<\/p>\n<p>If I\u2019m being honest, though, the real reason I\u2019ve always wanted an Argonaut V, specifically, is because I absolutely love the front panel design of this radio.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50750\" src=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3.jpeg 1200w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Ten-Tec-Argonaut-V-3-624x468.jpeg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The large LED digit frequency display is fabulous and has\u2013as my buddy Eric put it\u2013a certain \u201cApollo era\u201d aesthetic.
