(U.S. Air Force photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Kris Partridge, who writes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">With the imminent approach, Thursday, June 6, 2024, of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Normandy_landings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">80th anniversary of D-Day,<\/a> followed by operation Overlord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Being both a radio amateur and in the broadcast industry , I have done a little research and find the two items, below, relating to D-Day and post-D-Day communications and broadcasters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">One, from the BBC Archives for a UK \u2018view-point\u2019<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.orbem.co.uk\/repwar\/wr_action.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.orbem.co.uk\/repwar\/wr_action.htm<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">and Two, from RadioWorld for the US angle<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radioworld.com\/columns-and-views\/roots-of-radio\/how-the-army-handled-d-day-communications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.radioworld.com\/columns-and-views\/roots-of-radio\/how-the-army-handled-d-day-communications<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">But remember it was nearly a year away to VE-Day, so more research to be done on the effort of broadcasters to \u201cbring the story home\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Also, one amateur radio related note: A SES (Special Event Station) with the callsign GB8ODD: <a href=\"https:\/\/g5fz.co.uk\/up-coming-special-event-stations-by-the-lswc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/g5fz.co.uk\/up-coming-special-event-stations-by-the-lswc\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Being a WWII history buff, I really appreciate the links.
