Radio Taiwan International launches new book \u2018Shortwave Era\u2019<\/a><\/h2>\n

Radio Taiwan International (Rti) launched a new book Shortwave Era: From the Cold War to Democracy, From Intelligence Broadcasting to the Voice of Peace, Let the World Hear Taiwan\u2019s Voice last month.<\/p>\n

Shortwave Era chronicles Rti\u2019s nearly century-long journey broadcasting Taiwan\u2019s voice to the world in multilingual languages.<\/p>\n

It provides a detailed account of how Rti has used multilingual broadcasting to build international communication bridges, witnessing Taiwan\u2019s significant interactions with the global community. From World War II to the end of Cold War, Rti was not only an international radio station but also played a unique role on the special battleground, including executing intelligence missions through the \u201cTeresa Teng Time\u201d program and compiling \u201cCommunist Bandit Broadcasts\u201d as part of classified intelligence operations.<\/p>\n

Rti Chairperson Cheryl Lai remarked that today\u2019s Rti is like a \u201cmini United Nations,\u201d with colleagues from around the world sharing \u201cTaiwan\u2019s story,\u201d which is also \u201cthe world\u2019s story,\u201d fully reflecting Rti\u2019s international character and cultural mission.<\/p>\n
