That same year, the late Dr. Richard E. Wood authored a book called \u201c<em>Shortwave Voices of the World\u201d<\/em> in which he writes some notes about the station <a href=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/SVOTW-1969-Vatican-Radio.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that you can read here [PDF]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Vatican Radio was established in 1931 by none other than Guglielmo Marconi. It wasn\u2019t until sometime after World War 2 that the present-day transmitter site was set up at Santa Maria di Galeria. In addition, English language shortwave transmissions to Asia ended in 2017, though they could still be found online.
