Our programs will be available online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/voiceofrussia.com\/play\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/voiceofrussia.com\/play\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We hope you will stay with the Voice of Russia and hope to hear from you soon again.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>2nd Update:<\/strong> Shortly after publishing this original post, <em>SWLing Post<\/em> reader Stephen Cooper, noticed a VOR twitter account announcing the final date as April 30, 2014&#8211;<a title=\"Updated: \u201cPutin wants to silence Voice of Russia\u201d\u2013?\" href=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/2014\/03\/putin-wants-to-silence-voice-of-russia\/\">I now believe this account to be fake<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VORMoscow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9023\" alt=\"VORTwitter\" src=\"http:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/VORTwitter.jpg\" width=\"580\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/VORTwitter.jpg 580w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/VORTwitter-300x138.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swling.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/VORTwitter-100x46.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update 2 (10:00 UTC on March 21, 2014):<\/strong> I just received the following message from\u00a0Elena Osipova at\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Voice of Russia<\/em>\u00a0World Service Letters Department:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dear Mr Witherspoon,<\/p>\n<p>This is to thank you for your message and confirm the information about the upcoming cancellation of the Voice of Russia\u2019s short- and medium wave transmissions as of April 1, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Best regards,<\/p>\n<p>Elena Osipova<br \/>\nLetters Department<br \/>\nWorld Service<br \/>\nVoice of Russia<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I remember when the <em>Voice of Russia<\/em> and <em>Radio Moscow<\/em> absolutely dominated the shortwaves, especially in my early years as a radio listener.
