A photo essay from Said Khatib (AFP via Getty Images) in Rafah refugee Camp, southern Gaza Strip, on December 19, 2023, shows the importance of the radio in a war-torn environment.
One of the radio sets is a KTF-1653 portable multiband, solar-powered radio.
I was in Limassol, Cyprus two weeks ago and checked out the BBC Gaza service at 1500 UTC (just about local sunset this time of year) on 639 kHz. Without knowing the exact content, I am sure that this service is of benefit to the refugees. Massive signal there and I assume similarly strong in Gaza. Years ago while in Beirut, the BBC WS and British Forces Broadcasting MW services from Cyprus were also strong there.
massive signal because thats where the transmitter is thats being used for this
Yes, a useful tool to be told where to go next- and be bombed.
