Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Bill Meara, who recently connected with VK6JMS—an amateur radio operator working from none other than HCJB’s former shortwave site in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. In his latest SolderSmoke post, Bill shares details about the station’s legacy, its impressive TCI antennas, and the ministry that still broadcasts to the Asia Pacific today.

The transmitters are have an output power of 100 kW each, when transmitting silence or 150 kW with sound added. Antennas include log periodic arrays and dipoles
HCJB still has programming in several languages including German and Russian.
In addition, HCJB still has some presence in shortwave – even though most of them are low power transmissions.
However, there is one weekly more powerful(125 kW) transmission in Russian via Nauen, Germany. I encountered that programme less than two weeks ago. They identified themselves as “Golos And” (Voice of Andes) in the programme.
