Want to buy an HF radio station?

Hummel Park Radio Station Site

The Hummel Park Radio Station Site, near Omaha, Nebraska, is up for auction.

Ed writes:

This surplus Federal property includes two towers, including a tall
rotatable HF array and sizeable building:

This property could probably be purchased cheaply at auction by anyone who wants to start an HF radio station at the center of CONUS.

Hey, we can dream, can’t we?

  1. Could that be an old numbers stations site up for sale?

The same thing crossed my mind, Mark. Since it has a directional HF antenna, perhaps this would compensate for not being on a coast facing the target area? We may never know now, but entirely feasible.

      Exactly what I thought, too.

Maybe we’re finally getting rid of all these stations from the Cold War.

Very cool. Looks like it’s at 41.3710,-95.9622, which is here in Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/uPWWU
