From Alfredo Cotroneo of IRRS-Shortwave:
Dear Listeners and Friends,We were approached by colleagues who produced a special one-hour’ tribute’ program to Tom Taylor, and we decided to air it on our station in the coming days.
A very great deal of effort has been taken to produce this program, and some of the most legendary broadcasters in the UK and European clandestine radio have stepped forward to pay warm tribute.
Tom has been on the air “legally” via IRRS-Shortwave since 2002. Tom’s funeral was on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. I was told that his family were supported by some of Tom’s friends in radio, and they were surprised and delighted that he is to be celebrated in this unique programme which will end the 40-year chapter of European Music Radio (EMR).
The one-hour tribute program to Tom Taylor will be aired by NEXUS-IBA on IRRS-Shortwave at the following times/days:

Received it well on 3975 yesterday evening. A joy to listen to. A very nice and heartfelt tribute, many good intervies with fellow (UK) radio pirates, stories about fixing transmitter equipment over the phone by instructions etc. I hope to catch it again on a repeat and maybe record it.
I got EMR in 1991 and it´s ID is on my 60 minute MC from 1991 where I had collected shortwave broadcaster IDs that Thomas kindly uploaded to the Shortwave Radio Archive a while ago.
Hearing so much from the fellow Europirates yesterday has reminded me of setting up to find my old walkman and digitize the entire programs of European shortwave and mediumwave pirates that I put on ca 20 MCs throughout the Nineties. The tapes are all here but where is by old walkman? 😉
So nice that EMR inspired so many non-offshore pirates. I think in the US you can easily follow by the Twente Uni web receiver. Here in Europe there is as much going on on weekends on the bands as it used to be in 1990, no decline 🙂 but a few central figures have already passed away. I remember when the main guy behind Star Club Radio passed away a while ago, and now, this year, it´s Tom Taylor 🙁
