The Uniden SDS100 True I/Q Scanner

“[The SDS100] actually is bit smaller than the 436 and if the performance is like they say (see attached picture), then this could be a very exciting scanner indeed!!”

Yes indeed!  I have the Uniden BCD436HP and love it.  It’s such a simple handheld scanner to operate and there’s no real need to “program” it as it will automatically load relevant frequencies based on GPS coordinates or a postal/zip code. This looks like a significant upgrade and I love the fact it’s water resistant.  Of course, MSRP is projected to be $699 US–not a small investment.

    Any idea if your able to use down converter to RX shortwave bands? Has anyone tried yet? Thank You for your time reading!

    Any idea when Uniden is going to send out the new batteries for this unit ? Mine only lasts two hours and 36 minutes. It’s pretty dishonest ( or maybe deceptive is a better word) to sell and ship these units with known battery problems. The notice enclosed with the radio says they know about the problem and will ship a new battery free of charge. ….. I’m still waiting.

    Capabilities I’d like to see added to the design are the ability to decode D-Star as well as an amateur packet capable TNC capability that could decode APRS, especially weather info.

    As impressive as the SDS100 sounds, I really would like my next handheld scanner to be capable of receiving HF so I’m waiting patiently for the release of the AOR AR-DV10B.
