    So, “CRI” is an initialization of “China Radio International”. Does “CGTN” mean something that will help us understand their reason for this rebranding?

      “China Global Television Network”
      CGTN has been on the free to air Satellite TV for years now.. I wonder why they have re-branded using a TV network call sign?
      Anyway, it is a huge shame that that is just about the only English on SW (other than Radio Romania International)…

    Sounds like a complete format revamp, modelled on BBC World Service. I think many of the features have been commissioned from production companies in the UK, especially on topics like climate change.
