Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor and noted political cartoonist, Carlos Latuff, who shares the following illustrated radio listening report of a recent Radio ELWA broadcast.
Program “Thru the Bible”, with J. Vernon McGee, Radio ELWA, Monrovia, Liberia, 6050 kHz

It’s remarkable that J. Vernon McGee’s ministry is still going strong and perhaps a lesson to others. I first heard him in maybe 1977 or 1978. A friend of mine told me about him at the time. He offers a trip through the Bible from cover to cover in 5 years and his “Bible Bus” has made the trip almost 10 times in my lifetime. In these divided times there was never a hint of politics. His focus was the Word of God and winning souls. He was very conscious of an international audience too, heard across many shortwave stations from HCJB to the various iterations of Trans World Radio. Translated into many languages. He also let his work speak for itself. No grandiose fundraising. If you the listener found some benefit from the programs he simply asked you to consider giving to help keep it on the air. Almost five decades later that formula still seems to work.
Thanks for sharing your memories, Fred. Greetings from Brazil.
Carlos I love your work. Keep doing what you do. Cheers.
