New Test Transmissions from Texas Radio Shortwave – Special QSLs Available!

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Terry Colgan of Texas Radio Shortwave, who writes:

TEXAS RADIO SHORTWAVE TEST BROADCASTS – MARCH 1-2 ON 6070 KHZ & 9670 KHZ

Listener Reports Needed!

In addition to our regular monthly programs, we’ll conduct test broadcasts to improve our reach. Listener reports are crucial in determining whether we should adjust our schedule for April and beyond.

Test Schedule:

6070 kHz – Europe

    • Saturday, March 1, at 1600 UTC
    • Sunday, March 2, at 1200 UTC

Purpose: We are considering replacing 3955 kHz due to severe audio interference from another transmitter at Channel 292. If 6070 kHz provides better reception, we’ll make the switch.

9670 kHz – North America

    • Sunday, March 2, at 2300 UTC

Purpose: We are considering replacing our early morning UTC transmissions with late-night ones if the latter provides better reception.

Listener Reports & Special QSL Cards

We’ll issue a unique verification for accurate reports on these test transmissions and our standard QSL for regular programming. We don’t know what the test QSL will look like, but we promise it will be a great addition to your collection!

To submit a report, listen for at least 20 minutes and email your reception details to texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com.

Your feedback is essential in shaping our future broadcasts. Thanks for tuning in and supporting Texas Radio Shortwave!

Texas Radio Shortwave’s January-March 2025 program schedule

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Terry Colgan of Texas Radio Shortwave, who writes:

Hi – Here’s our program schedule for the first three months of 2025. We’re continuing to air monthly programs over Channel 292, Rohrbach, Germany, featuring Texas musicians (except in January).

We kick off the New Year with an hour of programming from Swedish pirate station Radio Igloo. It’s been a long time since they’ve been widely heard in North America, and we hope they receive a good response to the program. TRSW and Radio Igloo will issue separate QSLs for correct, detailed reception reports.

We’ve changed the time of our MixCloud streams to make them more accessible to worldwide fans of music by Texas artists and old-time radio shows. Previously, the stream time favored North American enthusiasts. We offer different QSL designs for reports on the MixCloud streams.

Texas Radio Shortwave’s Christmas Programs

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Terry Colgan of Texas Radio Shortwave, who writes:

Here’s our December 25 program schedule featuring holiday music by Texas artists. The BIG NEWS is our 0300 UTC broadcast from Woofferton, UK, with 250 kW. Intended primarily for North American listeners, the high-power broadcast should provide good reception in other parts of the world.

We’ll offer different QSL designs for Channel 292 and Woofferton. Detailed reception reports should be emailed to texasradioshortwave@protonmail.com.

Happy Holidays!

Best wishes and 73.

Texas Radio Shortwave adds additional broadcast

Many thanks to Texas Radio Shortwave for the following update:

We added an additional broadcast of our monthly program over Channel 292 in Rohrbach, Germany. We’re working to cover Western NAm with a broadcast on 9670 kHz at 0300 UTC. Listeners in the South Pacific have also reported a listenable signal.

We want folks worldwide to hear us and welcome reception reports from listeners using remote receivers (SDRs).
