I remember, it was around ’64 when the USPS issued a stamp devoted to ham radio.
A little information re East German radio . On long wave I used hear Deutschlandsender 177kHz fairly well. Until they and Europe 1 ( on 183 kHz ) moved to allocated 180 kHz with resultant CCI. They both
reverted to former frequencies soon after ! Also I remember when Solidarnosc ( Lech Walenca’s party ) was campaigning in Poland Deutschlandsender started propaganda programmes in Polish in the afternoons for some time. Radio wars in Central Europe !
Now a query re one of East Germany’s ‘black’ stations. During the cold war an East Berlin station transmitted in the evening for 30 mins. I think , somewhere in the middle region on medium wave. It mirrored the programme sty;e of AFN ( great programmes !) in English. It identified as OPS and had an East Berlin address. Has anyone any information about it ?
