HanRongDa HRD-747: Expanding reception to include longwave

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Dan Robinson, who shares the following video which shows how connecting an external antenna to the HDR-747 extends reception range down to longwave:

Thanks for the tip, Dan!

As soon as you plug a 3.5 jack into the “external antenna” socket the receiver displays 153 kHz; you can then scan the long wave band and then the medium wave band. Obviously the reception will be much better if you plug in a ferrite antenna.
I get good results with this antenna which is supplied with the TECSUN PL-365 (or with the PL-360 or PL-368).

This antenna can be purchased separately.

Excellent discovery Dan! I have one of these radios and SSB reception has become warbled. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Also, has anyone been able to reset this radio successfully?
    All advice gratefully accepted.

    Cheers,
    Dom

Where did you obtain the ferrite bar lw/am Antenna?
I like how it connected to the radio with a cable vs a mini-plug.
    Source: link?
