Radio Prop on Seth Myer’s Show

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Fred Waterer, who writes:

On Oct 2 Seth Myers as part of his show (Late Night with Seth Myers) used this prop to “listen to an imaginary Zombie apocalypse broadcast”, complaining how “heavy it was” when he lifted it on to his desk:

If he likes to hear himself talk, perhaps that’s why he’s plugged the mic into the phones jack…
Great looking example of the ‘190.

National NC-190 Amateur Radio receiver made during 1961-1964. One thing to note, the microphone is plugged into the headphone jack.

Haha yes. A couple of friends and I have been going back and forth about that. First it’s wild the NBC props department had this laying around. As for the mic in the headphone jack, I keep wondering if someone thought 1) “haha this will be funny to plug it in the headphone jack” or 2) “uhhh where does this go…oh it fits in here, let’s just jam it in here”, not knowing anything about radios. Even Seth Myers looked at the old mic and said “I don’t even know why they included this too” and laughed.
