Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Barry, who writes:
Thank you for the tip about the XHDATA deals on Amazon. I picked up a D-808; I’ve always wanted one.
Your readers might be interested to know that the Qodosen DX-286 is also on sale for $67.99 on Amazon. I already have one and love it. I paid $80 last year for it. This is the lowest price I’ve seen for it. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip, Barry! Click here to check out the Qodosen DX-286 on Amazon.com. Note that this spring sales event only lasts a few days and while supplies last. Also note that this link is an affiliate link that supports the SWLing Post at no cost to you!
I am tempted to buy a 2nd “Q” as I have nick-named it
to stick in the car,
or to stash in a church 3100 feet up on Pine Mountain where I can walk down the Little Shepard Trail to get away from RFI.
“Smoot-Hawley-like” tariffs
are looming on the economic horizons.
However, a little voice whispers in my ear that the chip inside the Q has the abilities to decode HD, DRM and certainly add on SSB – so why not wait to see what Mr. Deping Zeng is probably preparing for the Christmas market?
I wish Mr Zeng would sell a detailed Q service manual.
(now that I know Mr Zeng years ago designed the C Crane EP non-Pro original model radio I wish he would take pity on us radio enthusiasts and send a digital file of a EP service manual to the Radio Museum web server. Even better would be for Mr Zeng to write a paragraph of hints on how the original EP radio could be mod’ed to reduce its tendency to overload when near high RF like many city neighborhoods have. )
Regarding the 286 Radio, price quoted in the article here is apparently long gone. As of 15 minutes ago, “Lowest price in 30 days
$72.71”
I know that not every one wants to order from overseas, but AliExpress currently has this model for $48-49 from a number of vendors. Shipment to the USA generally takes 10-12 days.
There is a $10 package of spare parts and zipper case on Amazon which can be a lifesaver with an imported radio that you take everywhere.
Suggest you use the added savings from this sale to buy the kit as an add-on. It will take a few days to arrive by drop-ship as Amazon does not handle the delivery for the accessories package.
