Radio Havana Cuba’s A-25 Schedule

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Paul Walker, who writes:

This is the A25 Schedule for Radio Havana Cuba. Only English, Spanish, and Portuguese remain on shortwave (SW) broadcasts. You’ll notice that only two frequencies, 6000 kHz and 15230 kHz, are still in use. Unfortunately, the antenna systems and transmitters are probably beyond repair, and it seems China won’t be providing any more funding. Regardless, the broadcasts still sound awful—fuzzy, distorted, and incredibly under-modulated.

French, Arabic, Esperanto, and Creole will only be available via streaming. Honestly, if it were up to me, I would consider reversing course a bit by dropping service to North America and focusing on Latin America and Africa. This could involve prioritizing Spanish, Portuguese, and French, while offering English and Creole only online.

RHC Shortwave really fell apart after Arnie died.

6000 Khz is quite a powerful signal into Ireland at night but no modulation, at this point they’d be better off taking it off air.

Here in Ireland RHC used to be clear as a bell in the early AM on 5040 Khz, 6000 Khz, 6060 Khz and 6165 Khz.

I haven’t heard 5040, 6060 or 6165 in a long time and these transmitters sounded perfect so whatever happened I don’t know, possible storm damage to the antennas who knows.

I haven’t even been able to receive RHC English language broadcast podcasts on tune in or on any other platform or even RHC website.

I just sent an email and there might be the tiniest chance they will reply, their email is [email protected]
Maybe if more people email perhaps they will realise people miss their transmissions.

Their English podcasts haven’t been heard in years either.

RHC can also be contacted on Facebook if people also want to try contact them there, I don’t have Facebook. I’m not sure about X.

Truth be told, they probably suffered damage after the major storm a few years back and there is another on the way if it’s not there already.

I used to love rhc years ago. The programming is awful. Maybe when Arnie CO2KK Coro died he took their soul with him.
