Radio Martí Returns to the Airwaves: June 27, 2025

Edward R. Murrow Transmitting Station in North Carolina

One of my trusted sources at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) has confirmed that Radio Martí resumed broadcasting today via the Edward R. Murrow Transmitting Station in Greenville, North Carolina.

Broadcasts officially resumed at 12:00 EDT / 16:00 UTC on June 27, 2025. SWLing Post community members have confirmed reception on 11860 kHz and 13605 kHz.

This marks a significant development following the temporary suspension of transmissions earlier this year. I’ll post updates as more details become available.

I hear the 1180 kHz transmitter routinely on Cuba when the normal blackouts take the local transmitters off the air.

According to reports on Glenn Hauser’s World of Radio io group, 1180 was only off the air for a few days back in March. When it came back, it initially replayed old content before fresh content was created in Miami with staff coming back there.

https://www.martinoticias.com/ is the broadcaster’s web site. It makes no mention of their High Frequency (SW) broadcasts existing and how you can find them. i searched for ‘How to listen’, no result then ‘Frequency’, the only response was the frequency in 2019! It is not surprising they think there are no listeners to High Frequency radio, particularly when trying to get programming into countries which do not have media freedom.

AI says ‘Radio Martí broadcasts on several shortwave frequencies and an AM frequency. The shortwave frequencies include 7365 kHz, 7435 kHz, and 9565 kHz. They also broadcast on 1180 kHz AM, with a power of 100 kW from a transmitter in Marathon, Florida’
I assume directional transmitting antennas aim at Cuba.

This is very good news to me, as I hugely enjoyed tuning into Radio Marti every day. I’m worried for their future though. Please keep us updated.

    Thanks for this info..!

I might be missing something, but it would really be helpful
if a Frequency could be added to new stations back on the air…

there is a lot of shortwave bands to explore looking for them.

Please?… if you happen to have that info?

    Thank You
