Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor Haluk, who writes:
Hello.
I was skimming through a very old Turkish film.
Lo and behold, a maid turned on some (!) radio to provide music in a party…
The receiver looks serious but doesn’t look familiar, at least to me.
Regards,
Haluk
Thanks for sharing, Haluk. Can anyone ID this radio? Please comment!

It’s an Eddystone, but I’m not sure which model. They made many SW and Amateur band radios in that style.
I’m not so sure. I went through every Eddystone models available online. None matched this one. Even the Eddystone museum had no match.
Marconi Electra ?
Seems reminiscent of a rig I saw in the Queen Mary radio room at Long Beach in the 1980s… turned out to be a Messinier. Just a guess, it’s been a long time!
OK, here’s one more image from the movie. This is the clearest view of the front panel of the receiver. It’s so close to an Eddystone 830 – but just not it. Maybe a Soviet build? Guess I’m obsessed…

PS – here are some more screen captures of the radio from the movie:

I tried and tried to figure this one out – no luck. The shiney metal handles are a hint of a military surplus radio (19in rack). The closest I could find are Eddystone radios – but they didn’t have those offset dials. However, they do have the distinctive handles. Other options are possibly a GEC or Marconi brands – but their dials are symmetrical. It’s odd this radio has those offset main 3 dials. Hope someone can go deeper in that rabbit hole!!
Can’t wait to find out who knows!
Eddystone?
