Hi Thomas
Regarding a post on the WRTH Facebook page from December 17, 2025, there was a report that “Nasional FM” was testing a new transmitter in Kajang, near Kuala Lumpur. It seems I heard them last night around 0200 hours UTC using my friend’s Kiwi SDR in northern Thailand. I’ve attached a brief recording of their transmission in Malaysian.
Wonder if they are on the air full-time now?

Hi Dan.
RTM – Radio Televisyen Malaysia Kajang Transmitting Station I believe is still testing transmissions on 11885 kHz (Chinese language) and 15295 kHz (Malay language). Interestingly, these are old Voice of Malaysia frequencies.
I’m not sure what RTM is planning to do. I would think WAI FM would be best served on shortwave due to poor FM coverage in Sabah, and in the local languages. Nasional FM doesn’t need to broadcast on shortwave, as FM coverage is good throughout peninsular Malaysia.
I monitored RTM Nasional FM, Malay programming, at 03.35 UTC, on 16 March 2026. I live about 40km northwest of the Kajang site.

Hope this helps. Keep listening. 73.

Thanks for sharing this, Timm. Yes, I heard them again last night (local time), around 0222UTC March 16 on 15295 kHz using my friend Ken’s Kiwi SDR in So Phisai, Thailand. I found I could also hear them on SDR’s located in southeast and western Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines and even Qatar.
