I have a feeling the IC-705 is going to be very difficult to purchase here in the US well into early 2021. As Paul mentioned, a delayed type approval certainly doesn’t help. But, add in the manufacturing slowdowns caused by COVID-19 along with how long many of the major dealers here in the US and around the world ran pre-orders and I just don’t see enough being made this year. We’ll see.
This is weird.
The Icom IC-705 is listed by HRO as in stock at their Oakland CA outlet.
So, the question now is: are FCC performing type approvals at present? Does anybody know? There haven’t been any announcements about engineering functionality within FCC on their web site. My guess is that they are not.
