I wish they would have included a way to record the other person I am talking to. I often asked how his audio sounds and it would be so nice to send him a recording of his transmission so he could hear it himself.
i know there are other methods of recording and playback but they are really to complex and time consuming. N3QK

Actually, Fred, it already does this! The default on the IC-705 and IC-7300, at least, is to record both the operator audio and the audio of the contact. It’s seamless. In fact, you can even have the file parse up the audio if you wish or keep it all in one complete recording.

you can record his audio with no problem but you can not play it back to him. That is the problem and I have found no way to do that within the IC 7300 without using external add on assessories.

Just updated mine. I’m a little disappointed, to be honest.

Still no option to add menu shortcuts to the “Quick” key? I don’t get why there is a button on the front with only two functions: Start recording and change meter type. Could be nice to be able to add tone controls. and some other functions….

I was pretty curious if and when the new firmware features for the 705 will make it to the rest of the family and I’m happy to see this. 🙂 Quite reassuring to see that Icom is letting older products benefit from firmware improvements.
