Original Image by Annie Spratt

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Alan Roe, who shares the following note and PDF:

I have been collating a list of programming on shortwave over the forthcoming holiday period, covering Saturday 18 December 2021 to 2 January 2022.

The programmes listed are not necessarily seasonal. Here is the first edition of this compilation, which will be updated and redistributed if and when more information becomes available.

Regular weekly music programming, where no special advance programme information has been provided, are not included in this list, but please refer to my Music on Shortwave list already uploaded to the files section.
I hope that you find it useful.

Additions and corrections are most welcome to [email protected]

Best wishes for Christmas and a Happy New Year
Alan Roe, Teddington, UK

    Dear Alan Roe
Many thanks for the list. Amazing.
    I’m from Portugal.
When I were young (13 y) I made a SW receptor using a OA81 diode not amplified, crystal radio, with a self made 20m antenna outside… what a amazing world appeared to my ears on the high impedance phones! I keep that radio after 45 years!
After that I bought a Yatch Boy 500 radio, made in Portugal by Grundig. The SW sensitivity is weak (I believe that the crystal radio have a superior sensitivity) and, due to that I got discouraged from continuing to listen on sw.
Due to my job I’m temporarily in Morocco. I bought a Tecsun PL 368 and, after the reading of a lot of reviews, a XHDATA d-808: they are waiting for me in Portugal!!!
I have to return to Morocco in January 2022. What is the best radio to carry with me, the PL368 or the D808?
    Thanking all to the comments

      Hi Jorge
      Thank you for your comments.
Sorry, I do not have a Tecsun PL368, although I do have it’s older brother the PL360. However hard to comment on the PL368. Between the PL360 and XHData D808, I generally prefer the D808 – simply because of ease in tuning specific frequencies.

That’s a lot of work Alan. Thanks for your efforts! There seems to be a good variety of Christmas radio themes this year.

    Hi Alan ..!
Read you in TW11. I’m local at 9LN. I’ve to all purposes nearly given up on HF; broadband QRM and neighbour’s LED lighting. Not to mention Xmas lights at this time ! Wonder what’s your experience?

      Hi Kris
Yes – local QRM is a problem here too, but fortunately i do not seem to be suffering too much from extra Xmas light noise (touch wood)
