The Logitech UE has been discontinued for quite some time. A very similar radio that is still in production is the Grace Digital Mondo. I have one and i enjoy it. It’s been quite awhile since they have put out a firmware / software update but it’s still a nice radio if you like to search for streaming audio.
After buying one older edition, I haven’t purchased any since that one. Why? I do NOT want to hear more globalist propaganda spewed by the remaining governmental broadcasters. I want to hear real news from strictly commercial sources (primarily sponsored by individual donors), not the fake news, i.e. propaganda, spewed by taxpayer-funded state broadcasters.
Do the newer editions focus on non-taxpayer funded broadcasters? The guide IS useful if one wants to hear state-sponsored propaganda from the likes of VoA, BBC, RNZI, etc. I wish John the best with his guide, but without significant changes his guide doesn’t help me at all.
Yep, definitely a “must have” for SWLs.
It’s a top guide and even though it designed for a Nth Amercian readership I still refer to it frequently in Australia. Now that there are hundreds of remote shortwave receivers I can turn around the world (and dozens I tune in North America) the guide doesn’t just live in a bookshelf gathering dust here, it is always on my desk and a short reach away. I buy every new edition now.
It’s also a great companion to the global offerings on internet radio and interesting podcasts made available by broadcasters. The wire spiral binding is a useful feature too, the book lays flat on the table and stays open on the page you are using – this book is all-around great value! 🙂
