Video: Moshe captures an echo in Radio Kuwait signal

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Moshe Ze’ev Zaharia, who submits the following videos of his reception of Radio Kuwait at 10:30 UTC on April 6, 2018 from his home in Israel.

Moshe notes that the signal was of blowtorch strength and, for at least 45 minutes, there was an ever-present delay/echo. Moshe’s receiver is a (beautiful!) Zenith Trans-Oceanic T600 and his antenna a 15 meter wire:

Many thanks for sharing, Moshe!

Did anyone else note this echo? I wonder what happened at the Radio Kuwait transmitting station to make this happen?  Or, perhaps, it was a fault with the audio feed they received? Please comment!

    1. this is the very radio model that I grew up with in Oregon. super great radio. 2. could be some directional antenna switching mid program. who knows what kind of bizarre things go on in some radio rooms. for me, it doesn’t sound like an echo. perhaps doubling up on signal feed from inside the radio room, delayed a bit. 3. the first sign of the zombie Apocalypse. All the original rock and roll (Buddy Holly, Elvis etc.) recordings obtained a delay by setting a speaker at the end of a hallway somewhere in the recording studio with a mic at the other end. then added it ontop the origional takes.

I heard this effect or something very similar about three weeks ago on Voice of Greece. The transmission went off the air for a few minutes then returned corrected.
