This week’s programme starts with some Mozart – the first movement of the Jupiter symphony – then a concerto for two pianos by Dessner. A concerto Grosso by Corelli next – trumpet played by Alison Balsom. Then some Robert Carver – the Scottish Tallis, and to finish the hour – Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for strings and something from Handel – with a jaunty little bit of 1960’s playtime to fill the last few seconds.

This week’s programme starts with a Bach ‘cello suite followed by another of Paul Mealor’s wonderful madrigal settings of Tennyson’s Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal. Then we have Purcell’s overture to his King Arthur. Contemporary next – Triangle by Canadian composer Ana Sokolovic. Then Hamish MacCunn’s The Land of the Mountain and the Flood followed by some Janá?ek quartet – exquisite. Then something almost medieval for flute and pipes leading into a couple of wild cards – a secret. The hour ends with some of Bruckner’s 4th.

This week’s show has quite a lot of Xylophone, but also a Strauss lieder, some Tchaikovsky, Schubert – a piano duet played by Richter and Britten (people forget what an extraordinary pianist Britten was).

There will also be some Vivaldi, Debussy, and a treat from Brahms to finish with.

This week’s show starts with some Debussy, then a string quartet by Borodine. Then there is some Grieg, an ancient song, and a contemporary suite for the lute. After that we have the whole of a sonata by Corelli and two Lieder from Mahler. The show finishes with some of Saint-Saën’s Piano concerto No. 5. For no very obvious reason the combination seems very pleasing and soothing. I hope you can hear the transmission where you are.
