My buddy, Dave Zantow (N9EWO), has apprised me of a new review he has published of the classic Kenwood R-1000 receiver. Dave comments that he doesn’t normally review discontinued sets anymore, but he made an exception for the R-1000 as it “was so unique/good and still is to this day.”

GP5SSB-5Many thanks to Dave Zantow who points out the following message on Universal Radio’s product page for the CountyComm GP5/SSB:

“These radios arrived to the San Diego, CA dock in late November. Due to a dock worker labor issue, they have been stuck there. An exact release date is unknown.”

We will post an update when Universal Radio finally receives them–I’m sure Dave will also keep tabs on his excellent news page.

CCrane “Witness Plus” AC Adapter Review Now Posted :
The CCrane 5 volt USB-mini REGULATED AC power adapter (for the Witness +) is perfect for use with OTHER USB radios and has a 900ma MAX current rating.

Works with either Tecsun or Degen with the mini-USB plug (and the GRE PSR-800 too). Pin 4 is + and is truly 100% analog and extremely clean . It does NOT use switching electronics AND OR a switching regulator.

According to Dave Zantow (N9EWO), AOR plans to announce two new products this year at the Tokyo Ham Radio Fair: the AR-DV1 receiver and the TRX-305 transceiver.

I’ve just been notified by Dave Zantow (N9EWO) that he has moved his excellent receiver page to a new home on the web. For many years Dave has been using the free web host Anglefire, but a lack of reliability and invasive ads prompted him to move to a new host via Charter.
