Tecsun H-501: Internal shots and a note of caution about Newegg pricing

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Dan Robinson, who shares two note-worthy links regarding the new Tecsun H-501.

The first link is to a set of internal shots of the H-501 found on Radioafiction.com. Click here to view.

The second link, Dan shares as a warning.

Evidently there’s an inventory of the H-501s on NewEgg.com where they’re being sold for $584.49 US each:As Dan points out, that’s insane pricing--! Not only that, but I’m willing to bet this isn’t the final export version that will be the most up-to-date and will certainly be less expensive. I’ll be waiting for Anon-Co to offer these.

I’ve purchased computer parts from Newegg before–they’re a good retailer, but I suspect this inventory is actually being offered by a third party. As a precaution, I’m not even linking to Newegg as I don’t want to inadvertently suggest purchasing one at this price.

Thanks for the tips, Dan!

    Hi all,
My H-501x shipped with the Speakers out of phase with my other Radios, so with help from that internal photograph, I swapped the wires over.
Also of note, the Bluetooth does work very well and will prompt a default media player to start playing.
In addition, if you look closely at the bottom Left of the Radio, you will see a small grille. This is the Bluetooth Microphone, so you can in fact make a phone-call via the radio if linked to Bluetooth.
the H-501x would have benefitted from a carry handle.

Be careful before you hit “pay” on Newegg. Even some of the stuff they advertise in email as barnburner deals are often found cheaper on Amazon.

It’s very clear, at Newegg there are 21 listings for the H-501. Just look at the left column … it shows the following:

    Ship From Country
    (21) China

And every listing is a 3-party seller.

I also shop at Newegg often and have found them to be great. It is true that as you are viewing items on Newegg not all items are sold through them. To get around this once you are on the page of ….lets say desktop computers on the left-hand side of the webpage there is a selection you can make to view only items sold by Newegg. This take you away from the 3rd party sellers and unfortunately the item you may want as Newegg does not sell it.
