Texas Radio Shortwave Relays Norway’s Radio Northern Star on May 14

Mark your listening calendar!

At 0000 UTC on Sunday, May 14, Texas Radio Shortwave presents an hour of programming from Norway’s low-power shortwave station, Radio Northern Star.  The program will air on WRMI, 5950 kHz, from Okeechobee, Floride USA.

The Northern Star broadcasts 18-1/2 hours daily from Bergen, Norway, with 35 watts on 5895 Hz.  It’s seldom heard outside Europe.

Listeners will hear Radio Northern Star station IDs, announcements, songs from its playlist, and sign-off announcements.

Texas Radio Shortwave offers a special QSL for accurate, detailed reception reports sent to [email protected].

Radio Northern Star test broadcast: Thursday, Oct 31

“LKB/LLE is on the air with new test broadcasts this week from LLE-2 (1314 kHz) and LLE-3 (5895 kHz)[.]

Morning Broadcast today Wednesday @0615-0900 UTC, and afternoon broadcast Thursday @1530-1730 UTC. […]

I didn’t get this tip in time to tune to the first broadcast (today, 6:15-09:00 UTC), but I hope some of you can try listening on 5,895 kHz between 15:30-17:30 UTC tomorrow (Thursday, Oct 31).

Radio Northern Star: test transmission

Test transmission from Radio Northern Star on Shortwave.

Starting on Friday July 6th 0330 UTC/GMT (0530 Norwegian Time/CET) Radio Nord Revival in Sweden will be relaying the programmes of Radio Northern Star in a long test transmission on Shortwave 5895 kHz in the 49 meter band with a power of 10 kW. The test will last until Saturday morning July 7th. We welcome written reception reports to Radio Northern Star, Box 100, N5331 RONG, NORWAY. Email may also be used:[email protected].

For listeners outside Scandinavia we would also like recordings of the transmission, but please do not send large files as attachments to emails. If you want to send large files, send them on a CD to the address above. Be sure to include return postage if you’d like regular mail replies. Correct reports will be answered by QSL letter.
