Destination Earth

Good day all SWLing Post readers from us here at Imaginary Stations. Here’s our transmission schedule for the forthcoming week. The first programme is a return of the onshore/offshore pirate radio sound of Skybird Radio International. It goes out on Saturday 3rd May 2025 at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then repeated on Sunday 4th May 2025 at 0900/1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and at 2000 UTC on 3975 kHz and 6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold.

Take a shortwave flight around the globe and treat yourself to various music genres from all points around this spinning ball we call Earth that orbits around the sun at a speed of over 67,000 miles per hour. Tickets are not needed; there’s no booking of a taxi to the airport nor any room reservations to be completed via a form on the internet. All you do is tune your shortwave set in at the allotted time to enjoy all sorts of worldwide sounds.

We’ve another transmission on Wednesday 7th May 2025 via WRMI at our new time of 0200 UTC. It’s Skybird Radio International again but a completely different show chosen from our archives. Expect some top-quality sounds from around the globe.

Sleeping in thanks to the ionosphere

Good morning/afternoon/evening to all SWLing Post community. FastRadioBurst 23 here in a dressing gown drinking a coffee as I’ve just woken up, but I am awake enough to let you know about what Imaginary Stations have coming to the shortwaves this coming week.

There’ll be a couple of episodes of a show called WREM which is all about that pastime/necessity called Sleep. The moniker can be also be translated as “Witnessing Rapid Eye Movement” or even as “Willderness Response Escape Monitor”. The show may even be Michael Stipe related too, who knows what dreams may envoke.

The first show is brought to you via the services of Shortwave Gold on Saturday November 2nd 2024 at 1200 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and on Sunday November 3rd 2024 at 1000/1200 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then at 2100 UTC on 3975 kHz.

Then on Wednesday November 6th 2024 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz there’s WREM 2 via WRMI for more slumber inducing programming in the best way! Enjoy your hot sleepy beverage and then drop off with us!

Using the imagination again

Hi SWLing Post community, FastRadioBurst 23 here with news of the Imaginary Stations radio shows  bouncing off the ionosphere this week. This weekend we have another of those “name that theme” shows of WMMR.

Like the last WMMR show, it has a mystery theme running throughout and we ask our listeners to guess what that theme was, once the show is aired. There will be a special eQSL for the first correct winner. Tune in to find out more details on how to enter. XRPT and trains on the shortwave tracks

Hello all shortwave listeners and SWLing Post community, FastRadioBurst 23 here with news of the Imaginary Stations radio shows this week. This Sunday October 20th 2024 there’s a new show called XRPT. We are not going to give much away about it but look forward to a non-linear journey into the creative process of the Skybird crew”. This show is brought to you via the services of Shortwave Gold at 0900/1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then at 2000 UTC on 6160 kHz and 3975 kHz.

Then on Wednesday October 23rd 2024 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz there’s CTRN 5 via WRMI for all lovers of railroads and trains. Tune in for a mixture of locomotive and electric train classics for all train crew, station staff and passengers to enjoy. Stand clear of the doors please.

Libraries on the air on shortwave

Hello all shortwave listeners and SWLing Post community, FastRadioBurst 23 here with news of the Imaginary Stations radio shows this week. This Sunday October 13th 2024 there’s the return of The Shortwave Music Library with chief music librarian DJ Frederick behind the desk picking out some eclectic tunes from his record collection. Expect all sorts of musical goodies from across all genres. This show is brought to you via the services of Shortwave Gold at 0900/1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then at 2000 UTC on 6160 kHz and 3975 kHz.

Then on Wednesday October 16th 2024 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz there’s Part 2 of Skybird Radio International (Instrumental Version) via WRMI for your listening pleasure. More musical flavours with no vocals from various countries of the world.

We are looking for some financial help to cover our production and transmission costs for our shows on shortwave so here’s our fundraising video below. We’d love to keep our show on the air well into the new year and we are looking for donations (no matter how small as everything helps) to keep our eclectic shows bouncing off that ionosphere. Putting instrumentals on the map

FastRadioBurst 23 here with news of the Imaginary Stations radio shows this week. This Sunday 29th September 2024 there’s an instrumental episode of Skybird Radio International via the services of Shortwave Gold at 0900/1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then at 2000 UTC on 6160 kHz and 3975 kHz.

As with the last shows, they’re of an worldwide flavour but the musical selection will have a lot less vocals in this episode. Tune in and you’re welcome to add the singing bits yourself.

The on Wednesday October 2nd 2024 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz we have the return of WDWD – Off the Map Radio via WRMI. It’s as they say “an audio journey in the wrong direction to the wrong destination” but wherever we end up, they’ll be tunes mentioning place names, locations, compass points and maps.

FastRadioBurst 23 here with news of what the Imaginary Stations crew are up to. This Sunday coming on 22nd September 2024 there’s another episode of Skybird Radio International via the services of Shortwave Gold.

The show which features an across the board selection from around this musical globe of ours will be broadcast at 0900/1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then at 2000 UTC on 6160 kHz and 3975 kHz. Expect all sorts in a international musical mix up including the above musical gem.
